The Computer Science Department invites applications for a full-time, nine month, fully benefited, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, to start Fall 2018. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in our Information Technology (IT) Concentration, and should be interested in expanding the concentration. We seek candidates with the ability to teach courses in one or more of the following:

  • Network Security, Administration and Theory
  • Web Design and Development
  • Database Design and Development
  • Hardware/Software Administration and Troubleshooting
  • Programming languages (Java, Python, C++, C#)

The Computer Science program occupies a fully renovated teaching and office space, including two dedicated and one shared computer laboratories to support teaching as well as student and faculty research, and shared physics and computer science machine shop and maker spaces supporting multiple programs. Faculty and students have access to a high-performance computing cluster that consists of 176 virtual CPUs.

In addition to teaching, faculty responsibilities include: recruiting; advising and mentoring students; engaging students in undergraduate research, internship and related opportunities; participating in departmental and committee work; and maintaining a professional scholarship agenda. Candidates must also be committed to excellence in teaching and scholarship in a small liberal arts college environment.

Requirements

Candidates must hold an earned Ph.D. in Computer Science or another appropriate field. Candidates who are ABD with a firm date of completion will be considered.

Preference will be given to candidates with successful teaching experience, demonstrated interest in ongoing professional development, and experience with instructional technology. Experience in industry is also desirable.
