ACM Career and Job Center Privacy Policy

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is committed to protecting the privacy of its members and customers. ACM recognizes the interest of its members and customers in the confidentiality of their personal information. ACM only maintains personal information that is relevant to ACM activities and seeks to maintain accurate, complete, and timely information.

The Privacy Policy set forth below applies to the use of the ACM Career and Job Center only and supplements the general ACM Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

Using the ACM Career and Job Center requires that we collect certain data that may be personally identifiable information.  When you register a job seeker account on the ACM Career and Job Center, you will be asked to provide us with your name, address, email address, educational background and professional background.  In addition, to aid in your job search, you will also be asked for your job type, salary range, and desired location of employment. This information is referred to as your “Employment Information.”  On occasion, some employers may request that you answer a special pre-qualifying questionnaire (Employer Questionnaire) to better pre-qualify your candidacy for a specific job posting.  This information is only required if you apply for that job.

For employers posting jobs on the ACM Career and Job Center, we may be required to collect your credit card number and billing information.  When you place an order on the ACM Career and Job Center, your credit card information is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer ("SSL") protocol. SSL makes it difficult for your credit card information to be intercepted or stolen while being transmitted. Our third-party Application Service Provider uses a service company to process all credit card transactions.

Use of Information

ACM may use your contact information to send you email or other communications regarding updates about the ACM Career and Job Center, or to gather your opinion about our current products and services or to inform you of new products and services that we may offer.

When you register for a job seeker account on the ACM Career and Job Center, your profile will be matched with available job postings.  If you register to receive Job Alerts, you will be notified via email when a job is posted matching your Employment Information.  If you apply for a job, your Employment Information will be shared with the employer.

ACM allows some employers to run searches through the ACM Career and Job Center Candidate Search engine to match their job posting with jobseekers’ Employment Information.  No personal information is released to these potential employers and they are not able to contact job seekers unless you have authorized ACM to share your Employment Information with potential employers.  Before employers begin using the ACM Career and Job Center, they must agree to the Terms and Conditions, and thus have agreed to treat job seeker Employment Information as confidential and to not disclose your information with any third-party.

ACM has contracted with a third-party Application Service Provider (ASP) – Adicio, Inc./CareerCast – to implement and host the ACM Career and Job Center.  Information collected from you and potential employers may be stored on the ASP’s server and made available on this site and also on our partner site CareerCast.com and its affiliates. For more information, please refer to the CareerCast.com Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.  Adicio Inc./CareerCast is not permitted to disclose your personally identifiable information to any third-party without your consent.
