Instructor/Assistant Professor of Computer Science

Frostburg State University, Department of Computer Science and Information Technologies, seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor/Assistant Professor of Computer Science position to begin Fall 2018. Salarycommensurate with experience; University System of Maryland benefits package included.

The Department offers undergraduate degrees in Computer Science with an option of a network concentration, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, and Secure Computing and Information Insurance. These four undergraduate programs have around 380 majors. A graduate program - MS in Applied Computer Science with an option of a database concentration - has more than 100 majors. The Department has five student labs and a student research lab in the state-of-the-art Gira Center for Communications and Information Technology.

FSU is located on a scenic 260-acre campus in the Appalachian Highlands of Western Maryland, a region rich in history and outdoor recreational activities.

Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate Computer Science courses. Faculty members at FSU are expected to actively participate in the University’s student-learning-assessment program. Duties also will include regional engagement and professional service. The successful candidate must be committed to quality teaching, curriculum development, and applied research.

Minimum Qualifications: Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited university in Computer Science or related field required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. ABD candidates with a firm completion date may be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor. Must have a broad background in computer science applications. We are seeking applicants with interest in one or more of the following: security (such as database security, operating system security, cyber law, security policy); information technology; teaching or developing informatics and analytic courses.
