The School of Science (SoS) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, invites applications for three (3) Lecturer or Senior Lecturer or Professor of Practice positions in the Department of Computer Science ( Available start dates will be August 16, 2017 and January 1, 2018. We are seeking candidates with expertise in the broad areas of computer organization, operating systems, software engineering, open source software, network programming, mobile computing, and data structures, along with the ability to teach other introductory computer science courses. The initial appointment is for three (3) academic years, with the expectation of subsequent renewal.

Minimally, all candidates must possess a Master’s of Science degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science or another related field, along with at least five (5) years of teaching experience in a university setting. Alternatively, candidates with a Ph.D. (or foreign degree equivalent) in computer science or a related field will be considered. At either educational level, candidates must be able to produce evidence of effective teaching. The successful candidate will have strong teaching, advising, and mentoring skills. The ideal candidate will be an individual with a comprehensive vision of computer science education, as well as the skills needed to integrate into a multi-disciplinary department. Evidence of teaching effectiveness may include student evaluations, syllabi, and/or sample assignments. 

To be considered as a Sr. Lecturer, candidates must also demonstrate expertise and/or experience within a specific area, and must submit evidence of research achievement. Those wishing to be considered as a Professor of Practice, candidates must also have 10-15 years of leadership experience, and have made a significant impact within their area of expertise.
