Job Details

Professor of Information Systems
Department of Computer Science
University of Copenhagen, Denmark

The position is open from 1 May 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen is seeking candidates for a professorship in Information Systems. The new professor is expected to make a significant contribution to leadership in the Information Systems discipline within the Department of Computer Science. The professor must ensure that information systems research, teaching and outreach activities are thriving and act as a mentor to young researchers.

Outstanding applicants in all areas of information systems will be considered, but research areas of special interest include:
  • Digital innovation
  • Information systems development
  • IT management and governance
We are looking for an experienced researcher with an innovative mind-set and intellectual curiosity to strengthen and complement the research profile of the department's Human-Centred Computing Section. The section's research is concerned with the theory and practice of how people engage with computing. Currently our focus is on computer-supported collaborative work, health informatics, human-computer interaction and information systems development

The department values interdisciplinary research and teaching and is actively involved in several cross-faculty research projects and educational programmes. Thus, the successful candidate must be capable of and interested in facilitating cross-disciplinary interactions both within the Computer Science Department and across the university. The candidate is expected to engage in interdisciplinary teaching, including courses for students with a non-technical background, e.g., the humanities or health sciences.

The hiring of a new full professor is a part of the Department’s effort to strengthen our research and teaching in Information Systems. The potential is to hire additional junior faculty of information systems. This will be decided upon after consultation with the new full professor, who is expected to head the research group and provide leadership and mentoring to the younger researchers.
