Tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor position in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences beginning August 2018. PhD, or comparable terminal degree, in Computer Science or a related field. Focus of position on Data Science and Analytics. Candidates with expertise in data mining, machine learning, deep learning and big data analytics are encouraged to apply. Candidates will be expected to collaborate with current faculty in data sciences to grow a new Data Science track in the Computer Science master’s program, support data analytics courses in our BS Information Technology and MS Applied Information Technology programs, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop strong research programs, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, apply for external funding, and participate in department activities. The Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Towson University invites applications for one full-time, Clinical position at the Assistant Professor level focused on Applied Computing. We would prefer candidates having expertise in teaching, and are expected to demonstrate strength in research or possess strong industrial experience in one or more of the following areas: programming languages, networking, cybersecurity, and software engineering.  The focus of the position will be on the M.S. Applied Information Technology program. In addition, the candidate will also support related courses in our B.S. Computer Science, B.S. Information Technology, and M.S. Computer Science programs.

Expectations. The positions require a Ph.D., or comparable terminal degree, in Computer Science or a related field. The selected candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop strong connections with industry, provide curricular design leadership in their area of expertise, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, apply for external funding and participate in department activities.

Department of CIS. The Department offers an ABET/CAC-accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, including specialized tracks in cybersecurity and software engineering, a Bachelorof Science degree in Information Systems, a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, a Master of Science degree in Applied Information Technology in collaboration with the School of Emerging Technologies, and a Doctor of Science degree in Information Technology. The Department of Computer and Information Sciences has approximately 40 full-time faculty members, collectively over 1,500 undergraduate majors in the Computer Science, Information Systems, and Information Technology programs, and approximately 400 graduate students. The Department is placed within the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics. With more than 3,600 undergraduates, 34% of whom are minority students, the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics is one of the fastest-growing and most diverse colleges at Towson University.
