Professors of Software and Information Technology Engineering 

École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) is one of the largest engineering schools in Canada, with a student body numbering over 10,600, including 2,600 students at the graduate and postgraduate levels, and nearly 600 in Ph.D. programs. It offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate programs designed with an applied engineering focus. It cultivates close ties with industry through a dynamic co-operative education program, and boasts an outstanding degree of partnership-based research and innovation. It also includes a host of industry representatives in its decision-making bodies.

ÉTS has experienced spectacular growth in its educational programs and in its research and innovation activities over the last few years, allowing it to acquire world-class infrastructures. Description of position

The Department of Software and Information Technology Engineering (Montreal, Canada) is seeking professors of software and information technology engineering. The candidates’ research activities will be coupled with existing programs, and will be carried out in the context of software engineering, multimedia, medical applications and telecommunications.

Areas of expertise sought

Candidates are required to have expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Adaptive systems;
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning;
  • Big data analytics;
  • Cloud computing;
  • Computer games and graphics;
  • Distributed systems;
  • Human-computer interaction and visualization;
  • Information security and privacy protection;
  • Information and management systems;
  • Internet of Things;
  • Medical applications;
  • Mobile applications;
  • Network and services engineering;
  • Service-oriented architecture and Web services;
  • Virtual and Augmented reality;
  • Software engineering (e.g., software evolution, software analytics, software testing, quality assurance, software security, design and architecture, software metrics).

The candidates sought will:

  • teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in one or more of the above-mentioned fields;
  • mentor graduate students;
  • carry out funded or contractual interdisciplinary research projects, jointly with industry and in work places;
  • develop a research program;
  • publish scientific articles;
  • complete grant applications, particularly those directed at NSERC and FQRNT.

Requirements

Qualifications requirements

  • Must hold a Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in engineering (software, computer science or electricity).
  • Must be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ), or take the necessary steps to become one before applying for tenure;
  • Must have industry experience or experience conducting research in close collaboration with industry (if the candidate does not have related industry experience, then such experience may be substituted by solid R&D experience, or the candidate must agree to acquire such experience through an industrial practicum);
  • Must demonstrate excellent research and teaching skills.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken French in accordance with the ÉTS Language Policy, or demonstrate a willingness to learn French and embark on a francization process supported by ÉTS.

Winter or Summer 2018
