LEHIGH UNIVERSITY. The P. C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Sciences invites qualified individuals to apply for a tenure-track Assistant or (untenured) Associate Professor position in the area of transportation electrification with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. This hire is associated with the Advancing Community Electrification Solutions (ACES) initiative at Lehigh. Outstanding candidates working in Electric Vehicle (EV) design, control, charging, or integration to advanced transportation, building, and power grid infrastructures are encouraged to apply. Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, electric machines and drives for EVs, EV power electronic systems and power controllers, thermal management of EVs, advanced charging systems and infrastructures, battery technologies and energy storage management, EV dynamics and cyber-physical control systems, machine learning approaches for electrification of transportation systems, EV integration to advanced transportation systems, buildings, and the power grid. Candidates' backgrounds could be experimental, computational, or a mixture.
Candidates must have an earned PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant discipline by the date of employment. The individual hired will be expected to teach courses in transportation electrification and related areas at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; engage in scholarly activities; and participate in departmental, college, and university service. The successful candidate will also be expected to: pursue external funding and support PhD students; teach courses at all levels of the curriculum related to their home department(s); collaborate in interdisciplinary research projects in the transportation and energy sectors and in electrification; and support and contribute to the department, college, and university efforts relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Multidisciplinary research programs are an important priority at Lehigh University and include strong interactions with government agencies, industry, and existing interdisciplinary research institutes (IRIs) on campus. The ideal candidate’s research area will be synergistic with research thrusts in the Lehigh Institute for Cyber-Physical Infrastructure and Energy (I-CPIE). Additionally, Lehigh University’s latest strategic plan (https://ospi.lehigh.edu/strategic-plan-1) outlines research growth in the area of sustainable and resilient infrastructure and community through strategic investments in university research centers. The ideal candidate’s research area will be synergistic with research efforts within such centers.
