- Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Computer Science
Description
Goshen College invites applications for a full-time appointment as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Computer Science starting July 2025 with expertise in one or more of the following: artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, ethical hacking, software engineering, or applications of computing to business, health, or science. Leadership as the department chair is available to those with prior teaching experience. Primary responsibilities will be teaching computer science courses, updating the curriculum to reflect current trends in the field, and attracting more students into computer science courses, minor, and major. The candidate will recruit, advise, and mentor an increasingly culturally, racially and religiously diverse student body and support departmental co-curriculars. The ideal candidate will collaborate with other faculty to integrate computing across campus.
The Mathematics and Computer Science department offers majors in Computer Science and Mathematics as well as minors in Game Development, Computer Science and Mathematics. In addition, the college offers an Information Technology major through the Business department and a number of courses are shared between majors. All faculty members have opportunities to develop courses within their expertise.
Goshen College is a teaching college with a 4-3-1 load. During the first year, some of this course load may be replaced with curriculum development and student recruitment responsibilities. There is an expectation that all teaching faculty, after their first year, serve on institution-wide committees and assist with advising current students and recruit prospective students. Candidates must be interested in working closely with students and fellow faculty members as part of a small, vibrant campus and community. The successful candidate will continue to engage in scholarly activities, broadly defined.
Successful candidates should be able to teach a wide range of courses across the undergraduate computer science curriculum. We encourage the candidate to revise current courses and develop new courses in their area of expertise. The ideal candidate will bring an ability to teach computing related courses in mathematics or business, teach courses that involve community engagement, and develop new internship opportunities.
