Assistant/Associate Professor in Computer Science

DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE

FULL-TIME TENURE TRACK
START DATE: FALL 2018

Whitworth University seeks two full-time, tenure track Assistant Professors, starting in Fall 2018. Candidates with a PhD in Computer Science or related discipline, or a Master’s and significant industry experience, are encouraged to apply. Duties include teaching undergraduate courses, courses in their area of expertise, developing new and innovative curriculum related to the candidate’s area of expertise, pursuing research in these areas, advising and mentoring undergraduate students, and providing students opportunities to collaborate and support the candidate’s research. Requirements


Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • An earned Master’s/PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or international equivalent.
  • Demonstrated and significant industry experience in a related field
  • A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral English.
  • The ability to further develop our curriculum in the candidate’s area of specialization.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in college-level undergraduate teaching, possessing strong relational skills with students and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated awareness and commitment to effectively establishing relationships and positive communications across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to race, gender, physical limitations, class or religious perspectives.
  • Commitment to providing an equitable, just, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States by the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue to work legally for the proposed term of employment.
