The Georgetown University Graduate Analytics Program invites applications for a full-time non-tenure line position for an assistant teaching professor. This is a non-tenured teaching position of $90,000.00. 

The successful candidate will teach three graduate-level courses per semester (Fall and Spring) and will participate in administrative tasks, such as admissions and advising. The position can be 9-month or 12-month with a remote summer.

The position is for a three-year term, has the option of being renewed if all parties agree, and is for August 1, 2019 to May 31, 2022.  

The Analytics Program offers a Master of Science Degree in Analytics with a concentration in Data Sciences. With its location in Washington, D.C., Georgetown University provides opportunities to connect with government agencies as well as high-tech industries. The Analytics Program maintains considerable and continuous relationships with local and non-local companies, offers regular Seminars and Career Fairs, and promotes a strong sense of community among faculty and students.

Georgetown attracts some of the very best students in the country and the world. The Georgetown University Graduate Analytics Program provides students with rigorous training in computational, mathematical, and statistical methods to prepare them for careers in data science and analytics. 

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must possess a PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a STEM related field.
  • Candidates must have strong programming skills, especially in R and Python3.
  • Candidates must be able to teach ANLY 511 and ANLY 512. Details for these classes can be found on our website: https://analytics.georgetown.edu/academics/course-descriptions#
  • During the interview process, candidates will give a lecture on a topic selected by the Director and within the areas covered in ANLY 511 and/or 512.
  • Candidates should also have strong knowledge and experience with data science and analytics.
  • Candidates must possess both teaching experience and a clear interest in working with and advising students.
  • Experience with curriculum planning and student advising is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who possess a strong background in Probabilistic Modeling, Statistical Computing, and Statistical Learning (in R).

Students in the M.S. in Analytics program build a solid knowledge in data analytics fundamentals and then add skills in visualization, big data computing, and machine learning. Important soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem solving techniques are part of the training throughout. Students who complete the program pursue careers in fields including business intelligence, precision medicine, policy analytics, finance, marketing, online banking, big data infrastructure, and education. The data science graduate program also serves as preparation for students who wish to enter a Ph.D. program in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science, or Economics.
