Associate Research Scientist - Bioinformatics

The Yale Center for Genome Analysis (YCGA) is looking for two highly motivated Bioinformatics scientists with a strong background in the analysis of next-generation sequencing, CyTOF and imaging data, extensive experience in human genetics, and a keen interest in collaborating with other investigators at Yale.  Primary responsibilities will be to 1) Provide genomic analyses support to the Yale investigators; develop bioinformatics pipelines and innovative bioinformatics approaches for the analysis of sequence and imaging data. One position is focused on single-cell RNA-seq data and CyTOF protein expression data, the other position is focused on single-cell RNA-seq and MERFISH datasets. 2) Assist the YCGA Director with bioinformatics needs of new technology development. This involves learning the analysis needs for new instrumentation or new protocols, generating QC tools and pipelines, and evaluating the results from first run datasets in conjunction with YCGA staff.  3) Interact with the Yale High-Performance Computing group to design the necessary IT infrastructure for data analysis and storage and to develop mechanisms to ensure the delivery of sequencing data to users.

The ideal candidate will have Ph.D. degree in Bioinformatics or a related scientific field and must have extensive computational and next-generation sequencing analysis experience. Candidates must possess experience in Python scripting/programming, in developing/running bioinformatics pipelines and in using bioinformatics tools. Candidates must also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience performing single-cell RNA-seq, CyTOF analysis or live imaging analysis is a plus. A background of statistical analysis and using Python or R for analysis/graphing is desired.
