Faculty position in Computer Science

St. Bonaventure University (SBU) invites applications for a tenure track position at any level in Computer Science, with the position beginning in the Fall of 2020. Rank will be dependent upon experience.

Computer science has existed as a major at SBU for over thirty years and has placed graduates in a wide variety of positions, including at leading companies in the field.   The department recently launched a cybersecurity program and will graduate its first class this year. Both programs are led by highly engaged faculty who work with motivated students on both curricular and co-curricular projects. The department maintains its own subnetwork of computers to support both instruction and research.   This past fall, we admitted 7% of University’s entering class in computer science and cybersecurity and we expect this number to be growing in the future.

The faculty will work within the Computer Science department and with the Cybersecurity program to support the University’s mission as it relates to this specific field. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching within Computer Science.

The successful candidate will be faculty members who can continue the department’s past successes while helping to shape and lead it in the future.   They will need to collaborate effectively with cybersecurity faculty, with colleagues in other departments, and with external partners to achieve this success.   Faculty from all areas of computer science are urged to apply with special consideration given to those in more emerging fields such as data science, cloud computing, AI etc.   Further leadership responsibilities are possible dependent on applicant experience and rank.

Interested candidates should send a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and contact information for three references to Sharon Godfrey, Assistant to the Dean, School of Arts & Sciences, via email to sgodfrey@sbu.edu.

For further details regarding the Computer Science and Cybersecurity programs, please refer to the websites www.sbu.edu/computerscience and www.sbu.edu/cybersecurity.

For inquiries of academic nature please contact Dr. David Hilmey via email dhilmey@sbu.edu.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled following a background check for the successful candidate. St. Bonaventure University is an equal opportunity employer, committed to fostering diversity in its faculty, staff and student body, and strongly encourages applications from the entire spectrum of a diverse community.
