WHAT YOUR JOB WILL BE LIKE:

We are seeking a R&D Electrical/Semiconductor Automated Test Equipment Engineer to join our team.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Evaluation, development and debug of complex test methods.

  • Design hardware for testing, for example load boards and probe cards.

  • Use tester platforms and lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, DMMs, etc.) to verify performance of test programs.

  • Collaborate with design, failure analysis, burn-in, and system engineers as well as maintenance and safety personnel.

  • Perform sustaining engineering work to ensure test equipment uptime and efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS WE REQUIRE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant STEM field plus five (5) years' experience or;

  • Master's degree in relevant STEM field plus one (1) year experience or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development

  • Programming Automated Test Equipment (ATE) using C++ or other object-oriented language

  • The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q Clearance

QUALIFICATIONS WE DESIRE:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD.) in a relevant STEM field

  • Experience with semiconductor testers such as the Cohu, DiamondX, Verigy 93000, NP EXA 3000, and Teradyne Catalyst

  • Experience developing FPGA- or microcontroller-based systems, including the software, firmware, and hardware required to realize these systems

  • Experience analyzing and compiling data (JMP, Matlab, or Excel)

  • Scripting program knowledge: Python, Perl, Unix

  • Experience developing and implementing test plans for characterization, final test, and wafer sort testing

  • Experience designing device interface boards, debugging, and releasing devices (mostly ASICs) to production

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate well in a diverse team of designers and test engineers.

  • Active DOE Q clearance

Sandia's Product Engineering department is responsible for science-based microelectronics, MEMS, and optoelectronics testing for both internal and external customers. We meet these responsibilities by developing and employing state-of-the-art functional and reliability tests and failure analysis techniques. SECURITY CLEARANCE:
