Computer Science and Engineering

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology invites applications for a full-time Instructor, Lecturer, or Senior Lecturer of Computer Engineering or Computer Science with the anticipated start date of fall semester 2020. This is a full-time, 9-month, benefited, non-tenure-track, term position. Preference will be given to candidates with interest and experience in teaching a broad range of undergraduate Computer Engineering and Computer Science courses.

An earned M.S. degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is required; a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering or closely related field is preferred. The ideal candidates will have practical industry experience in Computer Engineering or a closely related field, prior teaching experience at the university or college level, and a strong background in one or more of the following areas: embedded systems, controls, IOT, robotics, sensors, DSP, assembly and computer architecture, FPGAs or microprocessor based design. Expectations will include teaching courses, supervising student design projects, advising students, and department service.

The Computer Science and Engineering Department offers two ABET-accredited undergraduate degrees, B.S. in Computer Science and B.S. in Computer Engineering. The department also offers Master of Science in Computer Science and Engineering. The CSE Department has teaching and research expertise in the areas of machine learning, virtual reality, cyber security, computer vision, controls and autonomous systems, bio-inspired computing, embedded systems, computer architecture, and high-performance computing. The Computer Science and Engineering Department provides an outstanding innovative learning environment for students Faculty members are also actively involved in a variety of interdisciplinary teaching and research projects across the campus.
