The IT & Cybersecurity program (IT&C) of Brigham Young University (BYU) announces that it has an opening for a continuing-faculty-status (CFS) track position to begin Fall 2020 (flexible start date negotiable). BYU's nationally recognized IT & Cybersecurity program led the way in defining the field of information technology (see IT ACM Curriculum, 2008 & 2017) and Cybersecurity (see Joint Task Force Cybersecurity Curricula 2017) and continues to push the boundaries of our knowledge through original research and innovative teaching.

Housed within the College of Engineering's School of Technology, the BYU IT&C program emphasizes technical excellence, experiential learning, innovation, and leadership, all within the context of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The program includes two undergraduate majors: Information Technology and Cybersecurity; and one minor in Information Technology. The Cybersecurity degree started in Fall 2018, though the curriculum has been designated an NSA/DHS National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense for over 7 years. The program also includes a thesis-based IT emphasis within the School of Technology’s Master’s program. Additional program information appears at itc.byu.edu.

The position is open to all motivated candidates regardless of research area and experience, although areas of particular interest include cybersecurity, networking, and Internet of Things. The new faculty member will be expected to excel in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, develop a strong research program, and participate in citizenship and administrative duties. A doctoral degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline is required.

Initial rank will be consistent with qualifications and experience. Brigham Young University is an equal opportunity employer. All faculty are required to abide by the university’s Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards. Preference is given to qualified candidates who are members in good standing of the affiliated church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Successful candidates are expected to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrine of the affiliated church.

Please note that this position can be filled with a visiting faculty.
