Laboratory Products Division unites deep scientific expertise, a collaborative culture and rich resources to deliver the lab equipment and consumables that our customers need to achieve their scientific goals – quickly, reliably and safely. How will you make an impact?
As a hands-on leader, you will be responsible for design and development of innovative, connected, electronic control solutions, which are integrated into cold storage and temperature controlled instruments. You will work in collaboration with a multi-discipline team during the entire product development cycle and have opportunities to experience front end innovation and discovery, prototyping and development, qualification, and commercialization of products focused on digital science.

What will you do?
• Lead and develop instrument controls which define our IoT enabled products.
• Provide technical leadership to HW and FW engineers as part of the controls development process.
• Work with cross functional teams through direct interactions and team meetings in developing and translating new concepts into applications.
• Lead and participate in formal design reviews of electronic controls requirements, schematics, layouts, as well as FMEA, DFM, DFT, and other related analyses.
• Develop design concepts or models, oversee prototype construction, and conduct performance testing to determine practical feasibility of concepts.
• Analyze new control and communication technologies for consideration in the electronic control platforms and associated applications.
• Develop software for new technology evaluations and specific product applications, utilizing sound design, documentation, and qualification practices

How will you get here?
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (Master’s degree preferred)

• 10+ years of experience developing electronic controls and embedded systems
• 2+ years of experience in developing IoT device hardware and firmware
• Expertise in languages such as C, C++, QML, Python, Bash
• Expertise in various protocols including UDP, HTTP, TCP/IP, MQTT etc.
• Experience with Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, LoRaWAN communications
• Experience with PCB design and development
• Experience in validating software operation in electronic equipment controls incorporating both analog and digital circuits
• Experience with the Qt framework

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Proven record of collaboration with product development team to ensure satisfaction of system functional, physical, and operational requirements and compliance with all requisite standards
• Excellent technical understanding and experience with technologies commonly used in cloud based systems (REST APIs, Pub/Sub systems)
• Familiarity with third party SDKs
• Tools
o Git
o SQLite
• Comfortable working in both Agile and Waterfall development processes
• An appreciation for sound design, qualification, and documentation practices
• Understanding of AI/ML implementations a plus
