Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science Department 

POSITION: Lecturer in computer science for the Fall 2019 academic semester (September–December, 2019). Strong possibility to extend to the entire 2019-2020 academic year pending departmental needs, budgetary funding, and interest of the applicant. 

DUTIES: The main duty will be to teach lower and possibly upper division coursework in computer science.   Specific courses may include introductory programming (Java, C++, JavaScript) and possibly IOS programming. Precise load to be negotiated with commensurate salary.


  • An earned doctorate in computer science or closely related field is preferred. Master’s degree in computer science or closely related field required.
  • Evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching.

  • Eligibility to work in the United States.


The Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science Department has 27 full-time members, a strong tradition of excellence in teaching, and a growing program of scholarship and research in computer science, mathematics, statistics, and related areas. The department received the 2008 University of Wisconsin System Regents Teaching Excellence Award for Academic Departments and Programs. The department is committed to student centered and technology enhanced instruction. Technology usage includes students working on laptops in the classroom, web enhancements (e.g., course management and on-line homework systems), and interactive distance education courses. The Computer Science program’s concentration in Game Design and Development continues to be nationally recognized, ranking 21st in the Princeton Review’s 2018 Top Game Design programs.  

The department offers all the core courses necessary for the Computer Science (~260 students) and Applied Mathematics and Computer Science (~175 students) programs as well as coursework supporting the Computer and Electrical Engineering program (~150 students). It also provides service courses (in all three disciplines: computer science, mathematics, and statistics) for the numerous programs within the university. The department also has a Master's Degree in Industrial and Applied Mathematics. Typical computer science class size is about 30 students.

Faculty members teach, advise students, conduct research, assess student learning and engage in service activities.

Menomonie, Wisconsin, is a town of 16,000 located in the beautiful Chippewa River Valley, 25 miles west of Eau Claire and 60 miles east of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
