Lecturer Positions in Intelligent Systems Engineering

The School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering (SICE) at Indiana University, Bloomington invites applications for two non-tenure track lecturer positions in Intelligent Systems Engineering to begin in August 2019.  

We are particularly interested in candidates who can prepare and deliver courses in Computer Engineering and Cyber-physical Systems, potentially with applications in Nanoengineering and Bioengineering.   Desirable skills include systems programming, systems design, and prototyping.

Lecturers at SICE are valued members of the faculty and are expected to support the SICE teaching mission through excellence in pedagogical practice, service to the school and academic programs, and inquiry into the advancement of pedagogy. In addition to course responsibilities, lecturers will be responsible for participation in course preparation in collaboration with faculty and the Intelligent Systems Engineering Department Chair, supervision of Associate Instructors assigned to their classes, development of laboratory material, grading, and other duties as assigned.  After successfully completing a probationary period, lecturers will be eligible for long-term contracts and promotion path to a Senior Lecturer position.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

SICE is the first school of its kind and among the largest in the country. Its mission is to excel and lead in research, education, and outreach spanning and integrating the breadth of computing, IT and modern engineering. Requirements

A Master’s of Science (MS) or higher degree in a discipline closely related to our engineering specialties is required before the date of hire.  Applicants should preferably have two academic years’ experience (may be part-time).  Qualified candidates must also provide evidence of teaching experience. SICE seeks candidates prepared to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education. The strongest candidates can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with diverse student populations.
