FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY (FAU) – The Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (http://www.ceecs.fau.edu) welcomes applications for multiple tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in the areas of Electrical, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science. Candidates with exceptional research portfolios may be considered at higher ranks. We also welcome applications at the rank of Instructor.

Applicants for tenure-track positions are expected to demonstrate research excellence. All research areas will be considered, but the following areas reflect departmental priorities: learning and control in multiagent robotics, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, machine learning, distributed optimization, sensing systems, and quantum computing/computer architectures. Successful applicants are expected to develop and sustain an extramurally funded research program and show a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Applicants for Instructor positions are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching in the area of Computer Science.

FAU is one of the 12 members of the Florida State University System. Its 2015-25 Strategic Plan identifies four thematic areas of research excellence and strategic growth across colleges (“Pillars”): I-HeAL, I-BRAIN, I-SENSE, and FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute (https://www.fau.edu/research/fau-institutes.php).

Applicants with a strong record within a focus area of a Pillar may be considered for a distinguished fellow appointment with the Pillar as well. FAU serves over 30,000 students, and its main campus is located in the exclusive area of Boca Raton, Florida, right on the Atlantic coast between Miami and Palm Beach.

The CEECS department is located on FAU's Boca Raton campus. The department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering; and M.S. degrees in Bioengineering. It has over 800 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. Joint programs and collaborations exist and are encouraged between the CEECS faculty and researchers from the internationally renowned research organizations Scripps Florida and Max Planck Florida, both located on FAU campuses.

The CEECS department has a strong record of research support from federal and state funding agencies and industry. Significant areas of research include cybersecurity, IoT, sensing, embedded systems, software defined autonomous networks, underwater communications, data analytics, smart grid, bioengineering, and health IT. The department is also host to two named research laboratories and two NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Centers, with over 30 industry member affiliates.

Minimum Qualification: An earned doctorate degree from an accredited institution in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field required.
