Salaries will be on the appropriate salary scale and will be commensurate with experience, taking into account pay equity within the Department.

The salary scale for Associate Professor starts at £66,742 per annum (pay award pending) and for Professor starts at £89,502 per annum (pay award pending) and can be found on the LSE website. In addition, this post may attract a salary supplement which reflects market conditions.

The Department of Statistics is seeking to make a senior appointment in the field of data science. An enthusiastic individual is sought for this unique opportunity to take a key role in contributing to development of the data science dimension of a distinguished statistics department and to participate in collaborative activities addressing exciting data science challenges across one of the world’s foremost social science universities.

At Associate Professor level, you will have an emerging international reputation in data science, statistics or a closely related subject and a proven record of outstanding research, as evidenced by existing high-quality publications, at least one of which must be world-leading. You will have a track record of publishing in top journals or top conference proceedings, in statistics, machine learning, or computer science, with a clear, well developed strategy for sustained high-quality research that will result in world-leading publications. You should have an ability to provide leadership in advancing research and teaching, with an ability to contribute to strategic decision-making.

At Professor level, applications are sought from candidates with an outstanding international research reputation in data science, statistics or a closely related subject, as evidenced by existing publications of the highest quality, at least two of which must be world-leading. You will have a track record of publishing on a continuous basis in top journals or top conference proceedings in statistics, machine learning, or computer science. You will also have a clear, well developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research that will result in further world-leading publications. You should have a track record in providing leadership in advancing research and teaching, with the potential ability to provide leadership in effective departmental administration and contribute to strategic decision-making.
