The Daniel Felix Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science (RSECS) at the University of Denver (DU) invites applications for seven tenured/tenure-track faculty positions. Research and teaching directed towards these global goals are built upon six cluster areas: 1. Robotics/Mechatronics, 2. Smart and sustainable cities, 3. Biomedical devices and technologies, 4. Cyber-physical systems and cybersecurity, 5. Artificial intelligence and data science, 6. STEM education.

This year we will add seven new faculty in the following strategic areas:

  • Robotics/Mechatronics

  • Cyber-physical systems and cybersecurity
  • Artificial intelligence and data science

Position Summary

The Daniel Felix Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science (RSECS) at the University of Denver (DU) invites applications for three tenure-track/tenured faculty position at all levels in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science (particularly in machine learning or data mining). We are looking for exceptional candidates who are committed to developing or enhancing a research portfolio and funded research program, carrying out innovative teaching, and engaging with a vibrant and diverse collaborative community. We are especially interested in people who can also build research partnerships with existing faculty within our School (who have strengths in algorithms, computer science education, robotics, mechatronics, embedded systems and UAVs, game development, programming languages, security, smart cities, biomedical devices and technologies, software engineering) as well as across campus (e.g., psychology, business, law).

Successful candidates must have an earned doctorate in computer science, electrical and computer engineering or in a related discipline, with an outstanding research and teaching record consistent with the search area and the rank. Rank will be determined at time of hire commensurate with background and experience. A competitive start-up package will be offered.

Assistant Professor

Required:

  • Ph.D. in computer science, electrical and computer engineering or in a related discipline.
  • Evidence indicating potential for high-quality high-impact research.
  • Evidence indicating potential for high-quality teaching.
  • Inclusive mindset.
  • Commitment to high-quality professional service.

Preferred:

  • Good communication skills and a teamwork mindset.
  • Interest in working on multi-disciplinary problems that contribute to the public good.
  • Post-doctoral experience.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with culturally responsive teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage broadly diverse student populations.

Associate Professor

Required:

  • Ph.D. in computer science, electrical and computer engineering or in a related discipline.
  • Six years of increasing academic responsibility, but persons demonstrating unusually high academic promise may have gained equivalent experience in a shorter time.
  • Evidence of high-quality, high-impact research.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching.
  • Evidence of high-quality student mentoring.
  • Inclusive mindset.
  • Evidence of high-quality professional service.

Preferred:

  • Good communication skills and a teamwork mindset.
  • Interest in working on multi-disciplinary problems that contribute to the public good.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with culturally responsive teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage broadly diverse student populations.
  • Strong funding record.

Professor

Required:

  • Ph.D. in computer science, electrical and computer engineering or in a related discipline.
  • Eleven to fifteen years of increasing academic responsibility, but persons demonstrating unusually high academic promise may have gained equivalent experience in a shorter time.
  • Evidence of high-quality, internationally recognized high-impact research.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching.
  • Evidence of high-quality student mentoring.
  • Inclusive mindset.
  • Evidence of high-quality professional service.

Preferred:

  • Good communication skills and a teamwork mindset.
  • Interest in working on multi-disciplinary problems that contribute to the public good.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with culturally responsive teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage broadly diverse student populations.
  • Strong funding record.
