For the Institute for Theoretical Informatics (ITI) / KIT Department of Informatics we are offering as soon as possible a

Professor (W3) of Informatics and its Didactics
(Endowed Chair of the Carl Zeiss Foundation)

The professorship will be established in close cooperation between the KIT Departments of Informatics and of Humanities and Social Sciences. The successful applicant will be a member of the KIT Department of Informatics and be co-opted into the KIT Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.

We are looking for an excellently qualified and internationally recognized scientist. Besides publications/research papers on teaching informatics at school (Gymnasium and/or Berufsschule), publications/research papers in school-relevant fields of informatics are desired, for example: algorithms, artificial intelligence, IT security, technical informatics, data and process analysis, application development, system integration, digitalization in industrial production, and robotics.

In the area of teaching, the professorship is expected to cover didactics parts in the teacher training programs at the KIT Department of Informatics as well as informatics parts in the engineering education programs at the KIT Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, and to further strengthen KIT's excellent position in STEM teacher training.

A teaching-learning laboratory for informatics is currently being established at the KIT Department of Informatics; it is planned that the scientific management of the teaching-learning laboratory will be part of this professorship as well as its further development both in terms of content and organization.

Skills in the acquisition of third-party funding and in the management of scientific teams are expected, as well as very good didactic skills both for basic lectures and in in-depth courses on topics from the research area of the professorship, and the willingness to participate in the organization of teacher training programs and academic self-administration.

In all other respects, the conditions for employment are governed by § 47 LHG. According to § 47, Subsection 3, Sentence 1, LHG, only those who can show three years of school experience should be appointed to a position whose job description includes tasks in teacher training related to educational science or didactics. Exceptions to this rule are possible.
