Sandia is currently looking to hire an experienced DevOps Engineer that is ready for a career where you know your work makes a difference! You will primarily be responsible for working on a large-scale seismic remote sensing system development effort that monitors worldwide activities to detect threats to national security. You will work on a multidisciplinary team utilizing agile methodologies to build, test and deploy automation of high-quality software systems.

Responsibilities Include:
Being a contributing part of a DevOps team utilizing technologies like Linux, GitLabe, GitLab, CI, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Java, Javascript, Postgres, Cassandra and Kurnetes doing the following:

  • Deployment
  • Testing
  • Building pipelines
  • Containerization
  • Integrating security scam tools

About Our Team

Geophysical Monitoring System (GMS) is a large-scale re-development effort to modernize the US National Data Center (USNDC). The system collects and analyzes data from networks of seismic, infrasonic, and hydroacoustic (SHI) sensors to detect, locate, and characterize nuclear explosions.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science or Computer Related Field
  • At least 5 years of Dev Ops experience or equivalent education/experience
  • Extensive Linux foundational knowledge
  • Experience deploying and supporting operational applications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance (not required to start)
  • Prior experience working on project teams

Qualifications We Desire

  • MS or equivalent in computer technology – Computer Science or Computer Related Field
  • Experience with Git, Maven, and Gradle
  • Experience scripting and developing with Python
  • Experience with configuration/deployment automation through Ansible.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with CI/CD via GitLab CI
  • Existing DOE L or Q or DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance

Security Clearance

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI access, both of which require US citizenship. SCI access may also require a polygraph examination. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain these levels of access may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by the DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.
