Job Title: Sr. Technical Leader - Instructional Technologist

Job Summary and Description:

The Sr. Technical Leader, Instructional Technologist will work with Subject Mater Experts (SMEs) to design and develop training for employees of electric power utilities and for employees of EPRI.  A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of adult learning theories (andragogy), instructional design models such as ADDIE or SAT, and have experience as a classroom teacher or trainer. Duties may include; developing an instructor qualification program for delivery of professional development training and for accredited nuclear training, facilitating train-the-trainer classes, managing instructor qualifications, designing full programs consisting of multiple courses in various modalities, creating on-demand eLearning courses, and developing materials for course delivery.

 

Plans, designs, and controls the progress of complex project work within the technical department to meet member/client objectives; prepares and presents research reports.

• Manages small to medium level projects without direct people management responsibilities.

• Assumes responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives or problems where the relationships between cause and effect are difficult to establish and little or no precedence exists, and the use of creative imaginative thinking is required.

• Influences project teams in the engineering aspects of the technical work.

• Provides input into configuration management and documentation for engineer related projects.

• Leads proposal efforts and new promotional work.

• Maintains familiarity with the progress and problems in assigned technical areas.

• Prepares proposals, technical publications, and delivers presentations.

• Leads national and international technical networks with manufacturers, consultants, academia, and research organizations.

• Works independently on technical activities without direct supervision

 

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Instructional Design, Instructional Systems, Instructional Technology, etc. or equivalent experience designing, developing, and delivering training

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•Understanding of adult learning theories / andragogy

•Experience in developing and delivering distance learning and instruction in a virtual environment.

•Experience designing training using a systematic approach such as ADDIE

•Classroom training experience delivering technical content to adult learners

•Experience developing computer-based training using Articulate Storyline and/or Adobe Captivate

•Ability to work both independently and as part of a design and development team

•Strong time management and organizational skills

• Ability to recognize strategic issues and build collaborative projects.

•Required limited supervision and guidance

•Responsible for the success of individual projects

• Works closely with members, contractors, staff to manage projects

•Experience in successful proposal preparation, and marketing activities

•Manages multiple projects

•Responsible for project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and technology transfer

• Shows maturity of technical expertise and assumes responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives

•Strong verbal and written communication skills

•Increasing technical depth/breadth to become a subject matter expert

 

Additional Job Information:

Ideal Candidate:

  • 2+ years of experience developing computer-based training using Articulate Storyline and/or Adobe Captivate
  • Experience as an Instructional Technologist for a nuclear utility
  • Graphic design experience
  • Experience with developing professional development and accredited nuclear training programs
