The School of Information Technology in the College of Applied Science and Technology invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track position open rank (individuals eligible for appointment at the ranks of Associate or full Professor preferred), with a start date of August 16, 2020. The successful candidate will be named the State Farm Endowed Chair in Cybersecurity and is expected to lead all aspects (research, education, and outreach) for our Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CD).

The Endowed Chair responsibilities come with a reduced teaching load so that the faculty member may coordinate the curriculum, mentor students and colleagues, represent the program to on-campus and external partners, pursue an independent scholarly agenda, and provide leadership related to research and creative activity. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining the School’s designation as a CAE-CD, sustaining strong relationships with industry partners, and leading the cybersecurity faculty in pursuing external grants. The Endowed Chair is appointed for a term of five years with the possibility of renewal.

ISU recognizes that a diverse faculty, staff and student body enriches the educational experiences of the entire campus and greater community. Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of faculty, staff and students, and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity are especially welcomed. Women, veterans, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ+, and persons of color are encouraged to apply.

Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely-related field. The successful candidate must demonstrate leadership skills and an interest in serving in a leadership role. Candidates must also demonstrate commitment to and evidence of both excellent teaching and high-quality, refereed research in the fields of cybersecurity or information assurance. The School emphasizes balanced excellence in innovative instruction and research. Coordinating and mentoring undergraduate and master’s student research is an important aspect of the role. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
