The School of Information Technology in the College of Applied Science and Technology invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track position at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, with a start date of August 16, 2019. This position is in cybersecurity, with responsibilities to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advance research in information assurance and security, supervise graduate students, and provide service to the University, College, School, profession, and community. The successful candidate may be eligible for the State Farm Endowed Chair in Cybersecurity, an endowed chair to advance the School’s growing Cybersecurity program. The Endowed Chair will have time reassigned each semester from classroom teaching to coordinate the curriculum, mentor students and colleagues, represent the program to on-campus and external partners, pursue an independent scholarly agenda, and provide leadership related to research and creative activity. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining the School’s designation as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE/CD), sustaining strong relationships with industry partners, and leading the cybersecurity faculty in pursuing external grants. The Endowed Chair will be held for a term of five years with the possibility of renewal.


Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely-related field. The successful candidate must demonstrate commitment to and evidence of both excellent teaching and quality, refereed research in the fields of cybersecurity or information assurance. The School emphasizes balanced excellence in innovative instruction and research. Coordinating and mentoring undergraduate and Master’s student research is an important aspect of the role. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position. Salary is competitive and includes a comprehensive benefits package. The successful candidate for the endowed chair must also demonstrate leadership skills and an interest in a leadership role.

The School: The School of Information Technology (it.illinoisstate.edu) is one of eight units in the College of Applied Science and Technology. The School offers four undergraduate majors in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, and Network and Telecommunications Management and a Master of Science in Information Systems. The undergraduate CS and IS programs are accredited by ABET. The School has approximately 775 undergraduates, 65 graduate students, and 21 full-time faculty.
