Job Summary and Description:

The Technical Leader – Standardized Task Evaluations and Training will have in depth knowledge and applicable skills in the training and qualification of nuclear and electric power industry technician personnel.  This individual should possess an understanding of nuclear power plant training criteria and expectations as it relates to plant staff and supplemental personnel.  Additionally, this individual will be able to work well on teams of subject matter experts and training personnel to follow established development and quality assurance processes and deliver standardized training elements including task analyses, knowledge examinations, performance evaluations, and training content for various technical subject content.  The Technical Leader will also lead small teams of EPRI, contracted, and industry personnel to conduct programmatic reviews of member procedures and the implementation of evaluation programs. 


  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to industry issues and gain input on needs from members/stakeholders and identify current and emerging technical issues.
  • Develops research or services opportunities of value to EPRI members that fit EPRI’s mission and capabilities.  This will include solving customer problems, producing insights and information vital to the members, and delivering information in a manner that members and customers can and will apply. 
  • May provide oversight of a project team to assure technical and financial milestones are met.
  •  Provides assistance to the EPRI sales staff in Member Services and EPRI International.
  •  Broaden technical expertise and interface with national and international technical networks with manufacturers, consultants, and academia and research organizations.
  • Communicates strategies and results, written and verbal, to program members, potential members and external stakeholders through guidelines, reports, meetings, webcasts, workshops and conferences.
  • Manages small or medium (less complex) projects including budgets and resources.
  • Communicate strategy, status, and project needs effectively to management and technical staff.
  • Communicate program to industry groups and organizations.
  • Work with internal EPRI team to improve existing training and technology transfer as well as assist in the identification of new opportunities.
  • Provide input into configuration management and documentation for engineer related projects.
  • Lead proposal efforts and new promotional work.
  • Maintain familiarity with the progress and problems in assigned technical areas.
  • Prepare proposals, technical publications, and delivers presentations.



Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 5-7 years of nuclear power plant experience.
  • 5 or more years of technical training experience.
  • Nuclear Utility or Nuclear Vendor Experience.
  • Understanding of nuclear utility plant operations, systems, and workflow.
  • Able to apply the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT).
  • Experience with VISION Developer and VISION Learning Station a plus.
  • Able to apply a learning management system in support of training planning, execution, and completions.
  • Well-developed technical writing and oral communication / presentation skills.
  • A robust background in the development and delivery of training materials.
  • Familiarity with the operating experience, technical challenges, and materials in nuclear power plants.
  • Ability to support travel about 25 percent of the time, including domestic and international destinations.
