The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Colorado College announces a one-year, non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Computer Science position to begin in August 2021. Visiting appointments may be renewed annually, depending on staffing needs and overall performance, resulting in a maximum possible term at the college of four years. We will consider candidates in any area of computer science.

Colorado College is a leading national liberal arts college with a distinctive academic calendar called the Block Plan, in which students take one course at a time. The teaching load for this position will consist of five regular courses per year, plus a computer science activity for students that is of interest to the candidate. The college supports active scholarship via travel to conferences and internal grant opportunities.

The College is committed to increasing the diversity of the college community. Further, Colorado College is dedicated to the development of faculty and staff who are committed to inclusive practices in teaching, learning, and working. Candidates who can contribute to that goal are particularly encouraged to apply.

A successful candidate must exhibit the potential for excellence in teaching and for contributing to the department’s scholarly activities, both through their own research and by supervising student projects.

The department plans to hold phone interviews in March, and invite one or more top candidates for on-line Zoom interviews in April 2021. Review of applications will begin on April 1, 2021 and we will continue to consider applications until the position is filled.

Colorado College is an equal opportunity employer committed to increasing the diversity of its community. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, age, religion, gender identity or expression, disability, or sexual orientation in our educational programs and activities or our employment practices.

Applications should be submitted by March 31, 2021 and should include: 1) a cover letter, 2) curriculum vita, 3) teaching statement, 4) research statement, (5) Antiracism statement, (6) graduate transcripts, and (7) sample of scholarly work.

Our online application process can be initiated at https://employment.coloradocollege.edu/postings/4702

All applicants need to list at least three references to submit letters of recommendation. At least one letter should address teaching and at least one letter should address research. The application site will send emails to references with instructions for electronic submission.

A Ph.D. in computer science or related filed is strongly preferred, but ABD or Master’s candidates will be considered.
