Established in June 2022, HKUST (GZ) is situated in Nansha, Guangzhou, at the geometric center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. HKUST (GZ) is the first university globally to adopt an innovative academic structure, consisting of Hubs and Thrusts instead of traditional Schools and Departments. This design aims to encourage interdisciplinary learning in a continuous effort to find innovative solutions to the major challenges facing humanity.
The institution features state-of-the-art research facilities specifically designed to support scientists across various disciplines. As a spin-off from the esteemed HKUST, both campuses benefit from a synergistic relationship that allows for shared resources—another significant shift from conventional higher education practices. The HKUST (GZ) community will comprise 800 faculty members, 4,000 undergraduate students, and 6,000 postgraduate students.
About Faculty Positions in INTR
Based on the fundamental research in various technical fields, the Systems Hub will facilitate the integration of multidisciplinary technologies and explore their applications. The Systems Hub invites applications or nominations for multiple faculty positions at all ranks (Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor) in the Thrust Area of Intelligent Transportation (INTR). We welcome applicants with expertise in the following areas, including but not limited to:
Advanced air mobility (AAM)
AI-empowered transportation
Connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV)
Human factors in transportation
Logistics and freight transportation
Mobility as a service (MaaS)
Transportation electrification and sustainable transportation
Transportation operations management
Transportation resilience
Urban computing and spatio-temporal data mining
Urban rail transit
Qualification of Candidates
Candidates must hold a PhD in a relevant field. Senior faculty members are expected to have a demonstrated commitment to teaching and strong performance in this area, as well as experience and preparedness in designing interdisciplinary curricula and programs. Additionally, they should have a track record of leadership in both research and service to the academic community and/or the general public.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service
The salary offered is highly competitive by international standards and will be aligned with the candidate's qualifications and experience. Generous funding for research, ample laboratory space, and excellent research equipment and support will be provided.
All positions are tenure-track appointments in Chinese mainland and will be offered by HKUST (GZ) in compliance with local employment laws and regulations. Appointments to the rank of Professor and some Associate Professor positions will be made on a substantive basis with tenure, while initial appointment to tenure-track faculty at Assistant Professor rank will be made on a 6-year contract basis with a mid-term review.
