What Your Job Will Be Like
Are you ready to make a difference in the Health and Wellbeing? If so, Organization 03733, Acute Care, is currently seeking an experienced X-Ray Technician to deliver care to Sandia National Laboratories employees!
The selected candidate will explain x-ray procedures to patients directly, set up equipment, position patients properly to produce quality images, and operate machines, using radiation in producing images of patients' body parts, bones, and internal organs, which are then used by doctors to diagnose and treat conditions.
On any given day, one may be called upon to:
- Provide routine diagnostic x-ray examinations and pulmonary function testing
- Perform quality assurance activities and other clinical administrative duties
- Maintain patient records
- Follow safety procedures by using protective gear, e.g., radiation shields, to avoid dangerous radiation that both patients and medical staff may be exposed to
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
This is a recurrent employee position, meaning the position is required to hold a specific certification and license. Recurrent employees are part-time employees reporting to meet minimum force requirements in special operational areas.
Qualifications We Require
- A High School diploma or equivalent
- A current, active American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
- A current, active NM Radiography License
- The ability to acquire and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance
Qualifications We Desire
- 5 years related experience performing diagnostic x-rays and pulmonary function tests
- Have flexibility in current schedule
- Knowledge and experience with the following:
- Safety, environment, and infection control
- Effective communication techniques
- A Strong customer focus with the ability to interact with a large cross section of colleagues, customers, and partners
- The ability to model behaviors that reflect Sandia's core values
About Our Team
The Employee Health & Wellbeing Operations center provides a variety of health and wellness related services to employees. Occupational and preventive medicine programs, health management, case management, physical therapy, international travel, acute care, and emergency medical services are all conducted within this Center.
Posting Duration
This posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days, including the ‘posting date’. Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting date at any time.
Security Clearance
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by the DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
