The DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Computer Science at Hofstra University. The position is at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.

• The academic programs in the Computer Science Department are experiencing rapid growth.
• The department offers degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity Data Science and Machine Learning, and Computer Science and Mathematics at undergraduate and/or master’s levels.
• The research interests of the current faculty  include cloud computing and systems, high performance computer architecture, embedded systems, cybersecurity,  AI, cognitive neuroscience, data mining, computer vision, computational algebra, logic and programming languages.
• The department is housed in the newly constructed  Science & Innovation Center which boasts Data Center with High Performance GPU Cluster and state of the art academic facilities.

Responsibilities: teaching, research, mentoring and service duties typical for  academic institutions of higher learning.

• Effective teaching of undergraduate and graduate level
• Sustained research, publications in highly ranked journals and conferences
• Service duties include: committee work at departmental, school or university level, student advisement, participation at admission and alumni events; service to the profession and the community at large.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: .

• Applicants are expected to have completed a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field by September 1, 2025.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : 

Preference will be given to applicants  able to teach courses in some of the following areas:

• Computer graphics and real-time rendering
• System security, ethical hacking, and digital forensics
• Programming languages and distributed and parallel computing
• Data science and machine learning
