The Department of Computer Science offers two programs of study. At the undergraduate level, students can acquire a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science that is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. Minors in Computer Science and Cybersecurity are also available. At the graduate level, they can obtain a Master of Science in Computer Science or a PhD in Computing with programs including Cybersecurity, Data Science, Computer Science and CMSE.

The department is a critical part of the vibrant software and high-tech industry in the Boise metropolitan area, with close relationships with tech companies and a strong and active industry advisory board. In 2016 the department moved to a new building located in the heart of downtown Boise – within walking distance to dozens of software companies but still close to the main campus. The department’s location in the heart of downtown allows faculty and students to interact frequently with the ever growing number of local software companies.

Boise State University is the largest university in Idaho, with enrollment of approximately 25,000 students and has the largest Computer Science department in the state. The university is located in Idaho’s capital city and largest metropolitan area, which serves as the government, business, high-tech, economic, and cultural center of the state.
